What is the check out time?

Check-in is from 3pm and Check-out is 10am.

Do you have a pool?

We have two pools: a large lap pool by the Villas and a recreational pool near the Waiora Wing reception area of the resort. Both are heated to 32-35°C. Pool towels are available from reception at a non-refundable usage fee.

Do you have a restaurant?

We have Pavilion Restaurant and The Geyser House Bar for snacks and casual evening dining.

Do you have a bar?

The Geyser House Bar is near the reception desk and opens from 3 pm daily.

Where can I park?

There is extensive free parking throughout the resort for all types of vehicles. You do not need to prebook and the car park is within easy walking distance of the rooms.

How far away is the town?

Taupō is 8.5kms to Wairakei Resort Taupō.

Do you have a shuttle to town?

Unfortunately, no. We can call a taxi for you.

Are we close to the lake?

Lake Taupō is 8.5kms from Wairakei Resort Taupō.

Until what time are the pools open?

The pools are open from 6am until 11pm.

Can I have a room with a view of the lake?

We do not have views of the lake.

Is parking allocated?

No, but the resort has ample parking spaces for guest available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do you have a CC surcharge?

As with many hotels in New Zealand and Australia, we do charge a 3% surcharge for AMEX and 2% surcharge on all credit card settlements at checkout – including foreign debit card transactions.

Are there any activities in the area?

Please see the Wellness and Location pages of our website for activities in and around the resort.

Do you have a BBQ available?

No, we do not have BBQ facilities. Unfortunately you are unable to bring your own BBQ to the resort.

How far is it to walk to Huka Falls?

It would be 45 minutes.

Can I hire mountain bikes?

Yes, we have a selection of mountain bikes you can hire at an hourly rate or for a full day.

Do you provide a shuttle to/from the airport/town?

The taxi company is able to provide transfers to and from the airport.

How much is it to play golf?

Green fees are 30 NZD for Adults, Seniors NZD20, Students (College) NZD20, Children under 12 years NZD 15 and club hire is 15 NZD per set. Wairakei Resort reserves the right to change these rates from time to time.

How much is it to play squash or tennis?

Access to the squash and tennis courts is complimentary. The squash court closes at 10pm.

Do you have a playground?

Yes, we have a playground for children.

Are there golf courses in the area?

Taupō is a golf lovers paradise. Beyond our own Wairakei Resort 9-hole golf course, there are 6 Golf Courses near the resort: Wairakei International Golf Course, Taupō Golf Club, Tauhara Golf Course, The Kinloch Club, Waiotapu Valley Golf Club (Reporoa) and Turangi Golf Club.

How far is the National Equestrian Centre from the Resort?

The National Equestrian Centre is 7kms from the resort.

How big is the resort?

We have 187 rooms. The property and golf course cover 169 acres.

Do you have a spa pools?

We have 2 spa pools in our fitness centre area.

Does the resort have laundry facilities?

There are coin-operated washing machines with detergent and coin-operated dryers in the Tauhara Wing next to the lobby.

What is the pet policy of the hotel?

No pets are allowed EXCEPT for service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability.

How do I book an online exclusive offer?

How does the online exclusive offer discount work?

The discount is applied to the original room rate. If you are booking as a member, an additional 5% discount is then applied to the already discounted rate.

Why are offers exclusively online only?

We are looking at ways to improve the online experience. Also, booking online enables you to provide your personal details in a more secure way through our booking engine than over the phone or via email.
