Wairakei Resort Taupo has two geothermally heated swimming pools for guests to enjoy all year around. The Lower Pool located near the villas is our lap pool, while the Upper Pool is a lagoon-style family pool that is located beyond the hotel’s reception area and opposite the Waiora Wing. Both pools come with standard changing facilities and towels are readily available from reception. During summer months, the Upper lagoon-style Pool boasts a seasonal pool bar offering a wide variety of drinks.
The swimming pools are open under Alert Level 2 from 6.00 AM to 11.00 PM daily, with a limit of 25 people per pool at all times.
All children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Unfortunately, our spa pools will not be open at alert level 2 and above.
During summer months, the Upper lagoon-style Pool boasts a seasonal pool bar offering a wide variety of drinks, summer cocktails and nibbles. Soak up the sun on the deck or poolside on a lounger, with stunning nature of the resort as your backdrop.

WORK UP A SWEAT WITH THE RACQUET OF YOUR CHOICE
You can play tennis on 2 floodlit outdoor courts or swap the larger racquet for the smaller squash racquet and hit the indoor court for a game against friends or family. After working up a sweat, why not cool off in one of the pools?
OUTDOOR FUN FOR THE FAMILY IN WAIRAKEI TOURIST PARK
The resort has its own 9-hole golf course, and there are 5 more nearby, including Kinloch Golf Club’s Jack Nicklaus-designed course. You can rent out mountain bikes to test yourself on the resort’s own track or take to the public routes nearby. The resort even has its own tennis and squash courts. Lake Taupo offers boating and jet-skiing, and spring and winter skiing on local slopes is only a short drive away.
If a game of tennis sounds too energetic and a ride on the Huka Jet too adventurous, book time at the hotel’s Body Firm Spa for a relaxing way to spend a few hours. Whether you need a remedial body massage to restore your natural balance, a wrap to tone your body or a facial to nourish and rejuvenate tired skin, the Body Firm Spa offers a wide range treatment. We advise booking sessions in advance as the spa is extremely popular with guests.
